Lacee King has been working at NIAD for years and creating art is her favorite activity. "I make art for fun, to calm my nerves, to decorate my home, and for a sense of accomplishment." Although she was born blind this does not impede her ability to transform paper or fabric into wonderful creations.

Lacking vision means her tactile sense becomes dominant as she bends, rolls, glues, and sews to make her creations. King's recent work includes a series of embossed prints and a braided rope sculpture.

In the spring of 2006, Lacee King was awarded the Vegari Prize during the annual Lighthouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired, INSIGHTS 2006 exhibition, which took place at the San Francisco, CA, city hall. As a result of recieving this prize she is one of the featured artists in the INSIGHTS 2007 exhibition, taking place from October 9 to December 7, with nine prints and one sculpture on display
